Kay Meek Centre Gala Planning Committee Member


Job Description:

  • Gala planning committee member helping to plan and prepare for the Centre’s Annual Fundraising Gala.
  • Solicitation of in-kind sponsorships and raffle items
  • Event marketing and promotions
  • Work with Development Manager to identify prospects and relationships
  • Work as an event volunteer the day of (set up and strike) and contribute to the event’s overall success


Time Commitment:

  • January to June 2012
  • Approximately 2 hours per week, however time commitment may vary slightly
  • throughout the planning term.
  • Must be able to attend weekday meetings during office hours – approximately one per month, approximately 2 hours in length, over the lunch hour
  • Meetings take place at Kay Meek Centre on Mathers Avenue


*Committee Members must commit to actively participating for full planning term.

Required Skills, Interests or Education:
Enthusiasm for planning a charity event
Knowledge of community/well-connected
Arts-lover
Available to attend monthly meetings
Attend event as a volunteer during the day (event is June 15, 2012)

Beneficial Skills, Interests or Education:
Event planning and execution experience
Experience with running a Gala-type event
Experience working with charities
Experience fundraising or soliciting raffle items and sponsors
