Kay Meek Centre Gala Planning Committee Member

Job Description:

Gala planning committee member helping to plan and prepare for the Centre’s Annual Fundraising Gala.
Solicitation of in-kind sponsorships and raffle items
Event marketing and promotions
Work with Development Manager to identify prospects and relationships
Work as an event volunteer the day of (set up and strike) and contribute to the event’s overall success

Time Commitment:

January to June 2012
Approximately 2 hours per week, however time commitment may vary slightly
throughout the planning term.
Must be able to attend weekday meetings during office hours – approximately one per month, approximately 2 hours in length, over the lunch hour
Meetings take place at Kay Meek Centre on Mathers Avenue

*Committee Members must commit to actively participating for full planning term.

Required Skills, Interests or Education:
Enthusiasm for planning a charity event
Knowledge of community/well-connected
Arts-lover
Available to attend monthly meetings
Attend event as a volunteer during the day (event is June 15, 2012)

Beneficial Skills, Interests or Education:
Event planning and execution experience
Experience with running a Gala-type event
Experience working with charities
Experience fundraising or soliciting raffle items and sponsors
